Makes for really hard cranking when they are stuck advanced or the springs have rusted off. After doing some more checking, it became obvious that there still had to be a resistor in the circuit of the generator light.A, 1965 cockshutt 40, I have a 4020 that ran really well up until November. It starts good , but idles rough and when you put it under load it stalls. If you pull the choke out it will come back to life and run OK. if you feather the choke back in, it will drive around OK in lower gear. Sorry but I think you'll need to remove RS valve housing to resolve the 3 pt problem. 1st I'll suggest to acquire a 5000# gauge and check stand-by pressure. If stand-by pressure isn't above 1700 psi the priority valve would be blocking pressure oil to 3 pt. Stand-by pressure should be 2250 psi. Usually if u go to reverse then back forward it will completley come out of park. Not saying it cant happen but the 4020 is a very well built tractor and the powershift transmission in it is practically indestructible.
